Things in My Holistic Home That Just Make Sense

Non-Toxic Living

When you walk into my home, it doesn’t take long to realize—we live intentionally here. Every corner, cupboard, and cabinet is curated with purpose. From the plants soaking up the sun to the fermented goodies bubbling on the counter, it’s all about nourishing our bodies, minds, and souls in the most natural, toxin-free way possible.

Here are some staples in my holistic home that just make sense—because when it comes to our health, nothing is more important than what we surround ourselves with every day.

✨ Remedies for Everything—The Natural Way

Supplements, tinctures, homeopathics, herbal salves—you name it, I’ve got it. My cabinets are stocked like a mini apothecary, because I believe our bodies want to heal, and we just need to support them.

Headache? I reach for peppermint essential oil or a magnesium supplement.

Teething toddler? Chamomile and homeopathic tablets.

Stomach ache? Ginger, fennel tea, or activated charcoal.

There’s no Tylenol drawer here—just plants, minerals, and remedies that have stood the test of time.

And let’s not forget: absolutely no toxic products in my home. If I can’t pronounce the ingredients or trace them back to nature, it doesn’t make it past my door.

🧡 Fermented Everything

Sourdough starter on the counter? Check. Kombucha brewing in the pantry? Of course. Ginger bug bubbling? Always.

Fermented foods are magic for the gut. They’re full of probiotics—good bacteria that support digestion, boost immunity, and even improve mood. I consider them a living part of our kitchen (literally).

Healthy gut = healthy everything.

Plus, there’s something empowering about creating your own food that’s alive and healing.

🥦 Organic Food, Always

You’ll never catch glyphosate in my kitchen. This common herbicide (most often found in conventional produce and grains) has been linked to hormone disruption, gut damage, inflammation, and even cancer. Hard no.

Instead, everything we eat is as close to nature as possible:

  • Whole foods
  • Organic produce
  • Grass-fed meats
  • Antibiotic- and hormone-free everything

When we eat clean, we feel clean—energetic, clear-headed, and vibrant.

🥬 Green Juice Every Morning

Before I do anything else, I sip on my green juice. It’s my daily dose of vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, and detoxifying goodness.

It supports my liver, boosts my energy, hydrates my body, and gives my cells the fuel they need to thrive.

It’s more than a drink—it’s a ritual.

💧 Ionized Water Machine

We use an ionized water machine to get fresh, antioxidant-rich water every day. Alkaline, mineral-rich, and deeply hydrating—it helps flush toxins, supports the gut, and may even slow down cellular aging.

Good water is foundational. If we’re 70% water, then the quality of that water absolutely matters.

🌿 Essential Oils for Everything

I use essential oils as medicine, perfume, cleaners, emotional support—you name it.

Lavender for calming.

Frankincense for inflammation.

Peppermint for headaches.

Lemon for uplifting.

Grapefruit for a healthy heart.

They’re natural, potent, and so deeply healing. Every oil is a little plant miracle in a bottle.

Plants, Plants, and More Plants

If there’s a sunny spot in my home, there’s probably a plant in it. Not only do they bring beauty and life into every room, but they also improve air quality and reduce stress.

One of my favorites? Snake plants—they’re incredible at filtering toxins, releasing oxygen at night (hello, better sleep!), and are nearly impossible to kill.

🍯 Glass Jars Only—Plastic-Free Living

No plastic in sight. I save every glass jar for food storage, fermenting, canning, salves, and dry goods.

Glass keeps our food safe from microplastics, hormone-disrupting chemicals, and that weird plastic taste. It’s sustainable, reusable, and pretty, too.

🔴 Red Light Therapy

I love red light therapy for its healing magic—it supports skin regeneration, reduces inflammation, promotes deeper sleep, and even boosts mood.

It’s part of my evening wind-down or post-workout recovery ritual. Healing with light… how amazing is that?

🌬️ Air Purifiers

Clean air = clear mind + healthy lungs.

We use high-quality air purifiers in our main living spaces and bedrooms to remove dust, mold, allergens, and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) from the air.

Breathing clean, oxygen-rich air isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity for vibrant health.

📚 Wellness Books

My bookshelf is stacked with my favorites: herbal medicine guides, self-healing books, law of attraction reads, holistic nutrition bibles, and plant magic manuals.

Knowledge is empowerment. I’m always learning, growing, and passing that wisdom onto my family and clients.

🌱 Our Organic Home Garden

Herbs, leafy greens, fruit trees, and veggies right in the backyard—because there’s nothing better than food that’s grown with love.

I love teaching my son where his food comes from, letting him get his hands in the dirt, and harvesting medicine right outside our door.

🐔 Fresh Eggs from Our Chickens

Our hens are part of the family—and they give us the best organic, omega-rich eggs you can imagine.

No antibiotics. No soy feed. Just happy chickens and fresh, nutritious eggs every single day.

Living Holistically, One Choice at a Time

Every item in our home is here for a reason. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about making intentional swaps that support our health and our planet.

This is our way of life. Rooted in nature, guided by intuition, and full of love.

If you’re just starting your holistic journey, know that every small step counts. Swap the plastic. Brew the tea. Grow the herb. Trust your body.

I am a first time boy mom, wife, self-published author and wellness connoisseur, trying to live a holistic lifestyle in the very small town of Moonstone, Ontario. I started this blog to share my passion (obsession) for natural, non-toxic living. Throughout this blog you will find inspiration to live your healthiest life, tips to switch to a natural, toxic-free lifestyle, honest and transparent motherhood, birth, breastfeeding, essential oils, help with getting started with Baby Led weaning and all other things “crunchy”. From teaching yoga, to making my own products and sourdough, to trying out veganism, buying an absurd amount of crystals, and trying many alternative medicines, I have dipped my toe in many aspects of the wellness world. I have also completed many courses in Herbalism, meditation, different types of yoga and Ayurveda.

Currently, I am studying to receive my Holistic Nutritionist (specializing in children’s nutrition) diploma. After giving birth to my son, I realized just how important living a natural, healthy lifestyle was. Feeding my son healthy, homemade organic foods is one of my favourite things to do. We began baby led weaning when he was six months old and our food journey has been nothing short of wonderful. This kid will eat practically everything I offer him (except broccoli). My goal is to share our journey and offer some support to new mamas and to assist with making their babies transition to food go smoothly. I also want to help mamas take care of themselves by supporting them with holistic nutrition consulting and meal planning. Mama’s health is just as important as babies, we must set a good example for our children by being the absolute best version of ourselves, they are always watching!

I look forward to meeting you and helping you start your holistic journey.

Hey, I'm Jamie, The founder behind Moonstone Mommy!

Nice to meet you!
